This July, the Philippine Marketing Association (PMA) celebrates National Marketing Month (NMM) with an exciting line-up of events all geared towards furthering the country’s Marketing profession and community.
Marketeers can especially look forward to attending activities each week, including two General Membership Meetings (GMM) and two Fellowship Fridays (FF), making for a jam-packed July.
Calendar of Activities
JULY 4: 3rd General Membership Meeting
For its opening salvo, the PMA kicks off NMM with the association’s 3rd GMM. Co-presented by Our Lady of Fatima University, it will zero in on a very timely subject, “Branding in SocMed: Advisories from the Experts & Influencers,” and will be held at Resorts World Manila.
JULY 12: 2nd Fellowship Fridays
Coming from the successful launch of Fellowship Fridays last May, the PMA is holding its 2nd FF together with Artisano Studio Makati. With the focus on “Mobile Snaps,” attendees can look forward to an informative and interactive smartphone photography workshop.
JULY 26: 3rd Fellowship Fridays
Always looking for new ways to engage audiences, the PMA’s 3rd FF invites marketeers to a fun experience — “Let’s Play & Celebrate at Star City” — in partnership with the Manila Broadcasting Company.
JULY 31: 4th General Membership Meeting
Capping off the NMM program is the PMA’s 4th GMM: “Marketing X Disaster Readiness: Our Role in Promoting Disaster Preparedness”. To be held at Resorts World Manila, the final event is a fitting platform to discuss what the industry can do to push awareness and action in preparation for any calamity.
Throughout the month-long program, PMA members and their guests can expect to learn from different industry leaders and to meet marketeers from across the country. Audiences can also look forward to raffle prizes and giveaways from PMA’s partners and sponsors.
National Marketing Month
Once a week-long celebration, Marketing Week was held every July 22 to 28 since the enactment of Proclamation No. 1135 in 1973. With the aim of building awareness for this discipline and keeping consumers up-to-date with the latest trends, Marketing Week has grown significantly over the past decades, making seven days insufficient to hold all the programs and activities planned.
Recognizing the vital role of Marketing in shaping the country’s economic landscape, Former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo (PGMA) officially changed Marketing Week into National Marketing Month through Proclamation No. 215 in July 2002; placing NMM under the charge of the PMA and its allied organizations. In addition, PGMA called upon the Department of Trade and Industry, and all other concerned organizations in both the public and private sectors to support this initiative.
Today, 17 years after the declaration of NMM, the PMA holds firm to its duty to celebrate and promote the field of Marketing every July. It is the association’s hope that through this month-long event, more opportunities to grow the Marketing industry and to build the Philippines’ investment, export, and entrepreneurial sectors will continue to emerge.
